Not to be a downer but you might want to check with Parks about any type of contest on the Kenai. Regulations exist about contests and participants but I'm not sure how they may apply to a Snoopy/Barbie contest.

I still have a Barney outfit around.....I bet that would disqualify me!!!

All bets made before hitting the river. Pay off when off the river and keep it hush hush. Heck, me and all my buddies have bets every trip. 1st fish, last fish, biggest fish, smallest fish, most fish and who might get shut out. Its not a lottery just a beer drinking fun bet

Shhhhh! Sounds to me like a commercial exploitation of an overly commercialized public resource.

PM's in the future. Grampyfishes may be reading this and all fun will be thrown out the window .

It's a fun time ... we've done a few with friends on The Kenai with reds. Better bring a spare rod, the reels don't do well, especially after one hooked in the wrong end ... it's over quick with a loud crack as nears the end of the line.

We've been doing a Get Together for a number of years for hatchery steelhead in WA.

Hint: it's more fun with full combat rules

If you mean Aussie Rules, yep you're right!!!

We used to do Aussie Rules fishing on my buddies charter boat when we were out fun fishing. Who ever managed to get to the rod got to fight the fish. There was a lot of pushing, tripping, elbowing, clutching and grabbing going on It would have made a good video.

Which Barbie Dolls of the World are durable enough for playing?I'm trying to buy a few of these for my neice because I really like the cultural education aspect. However, I also want her to be able to play with them without the clothes ripping easily. It would also be great to know if the clothes can come off and if "regular" barbie clothes can be worn.

Looks like a lot of fun.....I'll try it on silvers this year.

By the way - using the words Aussie and Rules in the same sentence is just plain wrong! I've watched Aussie Rules football and I think the point is for everyone on either team who does not have the ball to try and kill the guy who does! I can't imagine more fun than a cooler of beer, a few guys and a fishing rod!!!

I have caught many silver and red salmon on my ice fishing rod. No halibut yet but I'll give it a try this year.

Side note: My 20 month old little girl caught her fish fish ever at the sport fishing pond last weekend at the sportsman show. She received a batman rod as it was her first ever fish. Can't wait to get her out this year and catch some fish with it. Maybe she'll let me use it?

    Hmmmm.

I might know something about this.

Here's the video I took of our 1st not-so-annual Kenai Snoopy Rod Classic.

Kinda boring, but hey, it's all I had.

The look on the boaters faces as they drifted by fishing for kingers was priceless.

    Nope, none of Popeil's goodies.

The drags are way too consistent.

Half the fun is starting with a new rod each time and seeing if you got one with a working drag or (in many cases) ... not!

    Parker & Sockeye = Don't mix.

That was funny watching Fishgal finally brought to earth that day though

    Default I am protesting!

I would like to file a protest!! The pocket fisherman is hadicapped by having a shorter rod. Granted i can use either one but still. Also the drag is not all that good. What do the rest of you think?
