Default Gold Bug2 or Gold strike

    Hi all

I am new to "nugget shooting"

I would like to ask opinions on what would be best.
    A GB2 for $700
    or a
    Gold strike for $475

    thanks

I can give you my quick, short, & only partially informed opinion.
The GB II has been around for many years & enjoys a great reputation, especially on very small gold. Coils are readily available in 3 sizes at reasonable prices.
I have one & really like it.

The GS was only around a few years before they dropped it. I never used one & personally know no one that did so I can't comment on it's performance, but I wonder why it didn't last. The coils for it will not interchange with the original GB or GB II so they are a step child that will be hard to tailor to specific conditions unless you luck into extra coils somewhere. I think the GS is a little heavier, & it's control box is not hip or chest (my preference) mountable without extensive modification (I think Brian at AMD did one) while the GBII justpops off for chest mount.

I'd bo with another GB II.
That said, some of the areas you hunt might benefit from a lower frequency detector.

    Default New Question

    Thanks Vance.

It looks like I'm going to go with a new GBII.
Most of my hunting will be in the Interior,
witch coil would be the most usefull?
I'm thinking the 6.5 due to the mineralization of the soil, would this be the best choice? If I was to get a second coil, what size?

    Thanks

    Default Gb ii

    Hello,

I have the GB II and like it. It was purchased to find shallow small gold. It does that very well. I have heard that the build quality has suffered recently. I believe I read that on the Alaska Gold Forum. You may want to explore more there.

I know nothing of the Gold Strike. The folks a AMD in Anchorage have my trust and a good deal of my money.

    Thumbs up Whites GMT

I use a Whites GMT and love it, easy to use, easy to set up and seems to go deeper than my Dad's GB 2...
