I have a P-17 Enfield that had the bolt faced opened for a magnum and the rails worked on for a magnum sized catridge. I sent it off to ER Shaw and had a 26" #2.5 contour barrel installed with William sights on it in 375 H&H. I ordered a Richards Microfit stock that fit the straightened floor plate. With a 250gr Sierra bullet it is incredibly accurate (5 shots touching each other at 100 yds) but.....
I've got a feeding problem. When the magazine is loaded the bolt will pass over the round on the right hand side and not pick it up. The left hand side round picks up and feeds perfect. I've adapted and load it so I chamber a round manually with the next one up being the round on the left side. Works great (I basically have a two shot bolt action) and I've used it like that but... Is there a follower available for magnum converted Enfields. I know these have been done for 70 yrs or so. Is this common? Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Dennis Olsen in Plains Mont. knows them p17 inside and out may want to give him a holler. **** risky having a rifle behave that way.

    Default Thanks

I agree it's risky. I'll give him a call. I love the gun just need the feed problem remedied. It's probably something simple.

    Default rails opened up?

Have the rails been properly opened up for the larger cartridge? The rails are usually modied while the follower stays the same in my experience.
