Default Taurus Model 689 357 mag?

Repeat thread/post, it was pointed out that I should have posted this in the handgun forum.

I'm looking for a 357 mag in the $300 range (prefer a double action, wouldn't rule out a good single action though) just to put bullets down range and I came across a Taurus 689 (online). Is it a a single or double action revolver? Most Taurus' I've handled (new-at gun shops) were double action. This model is no longer produced though. Does anyone know?

You will like a Tarsus 357mag, I owned one from 85-89 and had a lot of fun with it and they do shoot good. I would be interested in what you choose or which Tarsus you choose. Let us know.

I am about 90% that the Taurus 689 looks like an older S&W D/A.

For the $300 range you found a true Colt in 357?
Not so long back that would be the price of a used up 38 police special.
