This past weekend through today we saw highs just reaching 30 degrees. Lows have been in the low single digits, even dipping in the single negative digits at times.
Weather History

Snow Depth At Landing Parking Lot:

There was a foot of new snow on last Saturday. The lot has been plowed, and burms have been stacked. We have received around an inch of snow starting Wednesday night. The snow has now turned to freezing rain, which is making the ground crusty on top.

Trail Conditions:

3/2 The trails were in great shape before the freezing rain started coming down over. There are a few bumpy sections on the Susitna going down to the mouth of the Yentna, and there are a few bumps on the Yentna, but overall, conditions are great! Going off trail is not suggested due to deep heavy snow. Please don't throttle down the trail ripping it to shreds. If you are going to play, please play off the trails. There is a lot of hauling taking place to cabins right now. More trail markers and signs were added last week. The groomers should be out over the next few days to get the trails ready for the Iditarod.

18 inches of new snow in the last week at the lodge.

1/26 The Tal River Loop has been put in. Take a left 1 1/2 miles up river from Luces. This is an overland trail to the TalVista Lodge via Alexander Lake. The trail is 35 miles from start to the TalVista. It is 4' packed snow and beautiful. Most of the trail is marked, stay in main trail and you won't veer off in the wrong direction. If you come across the landing strip, Kenny Hughes place, stay off strip and respect his trails. This is the halfway point.

The TalVista Lodge has food, fuel and lodging available. Please call Chris or Sarah @ the lodge for reservations 733-3066

Other Comments:

Have you used this gate machine from Dec. 23 to Present?
There has been an ongoing batch problem with all transactions during this time period. We believed we would have this fixed by February 20th, but another technical issue has now shown up. Our new goal is the first week of March to have the batches sent to the bank.
This means you will see charges appear on your credit card from previous visits to Deshka Landing. We apologize for any inconvenience, and we have been working on getting several issues resolved since this was identified at the end of January.

Gas available 24/7 with credit card
Office Hours: 10:00am-6:00pm Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm Saturday-Sunday
