    Default eagle photo

i have been taking folks across the bay to take eagle pics lately and i got this pic with my crummy little fuji... you can imagine some of the images that the guys with the giant lenses have gotten... a couple of those lenses must be worth more than my boat

Nice shot. Can you get me close to puffins?

Flying bird shots are tough. It's an area I'm just starting to delve into, and not very well so far.

So is it getting tougher in Homer now, with the passing of the Eagle Lady?

    Default eagle photo subculture...

just recently i got "plugged in" with all the folks who come here to take pics of eagles, and it is just crazy! not sure how the passing of jean keane will ultimately affect the photographers, they are continuing feeding this year, but there are no plans to feed next year, nor do i think they should.
that being said, we are getting some great shots of eagles when we go across the bay, and one guy has chartered me 4 times... must be something he likes!
as for puffins, some days they are easy, some hard, but taking pics in the spring/summer there is always something. in early summer the goats are down low in sadie and provide good opportunities.
the best would be for a group of photographers to charter me for several hours and just do a photo cruise, that way we could just go do whatever the light and conditions warranted.
