    Default Offset scope rings

I need help. I am trying to put a Leupold Vari-x II on my Mossberg model 99 "chuckster" .22mag. The problem I have is that the dovetail grooves for the .22 scope are too short and too far forward to mount the scope properly. Does anyone have a good source for an offset scope ring with the .22 style clamp mount? I found one in Brownells, but I would like to see some other options. Midway has nothing. I would rather not have to tap the gun and mount a weaver style base if I can avoid it.

    Thanks in advance...

Have you tried B-Square? They make all kinds of mounts.

    Thumbs up Thanks

I wasn't able to find what I was looking for since a lot of the items were descriptions only and no photos so I left a message on the Mossberg forum.

    Thanks for the links.

Ok here is another site too try.

    http://www.weaver-mounts.com/

I believe that the Mossberg 340 mounts will fit the same firearm.

Does this rifle have the 3/8" dovetail grooves?

Weaver makes 1" rings to fit 3/8" dovetail grooves. Let me check and see what I have around here in left over inventory and see what I can find.

    Default Dovetail

Yes, it is the 3/8". The weaver link you gave has a set, but they only offset about 3/4". I was hoping to find something with a little more offset. I may end up having to get the rifle tapped for a mounting rail. It may be the best option in the long run anyway.

Thumbs up Your links are bookmarked....

The links you gave were a great help, unfortunately they are showing me that what I am wanting may not exist. I had a friend measure the offset while I held the scope up at the right eye relief and he said it may need to be as much as 2" of offset. I'll be surprised if anyone offers a ring with that much offset to tell the truth. Mounting a plate may be the best option, I just don't like holes drilled in my guns! (
