Didn't this happen in Canada? They tried to issue licenses and a lot of gun owners refused to get licensed? They'd (Holder & Congress) would be making felons out of 80 million Americans.

I still maintain that the clowns in DC have a lot better things to do than attack our 2A rights...like figuring out a way to squander $1 trillion!

Does anyone know where we could get the crime stat's from '04-'08? I'd like to see what crime has done since the expiration of the AWB. The finding & purpose of this bill are absolutely ridiculous & hideous.

I would have to look for it but I had something from the NRA that said it was the lowest since the 70's. Hmmm go figure!

Default England wants their guns back - lets keep ours

Let's keep the rights we have - just got this email alert from GunsAmerica, pretty powerful video linked below:

One of our GunsAmerica insider people sent us a link to this Youtube video about the failed gun ban in England.
If you don't know the history, England banned all legal ownership of handguns many years ago with very little resistance from its people. It was thought to be a good measure to bring down gun crime. The result has been double digit increases in gun crime every year since the ban. Since then the country has taken away many more freedoms, to hunt, to defend oneself from harm, and finally its citizens are speaking up.
Many of us who put time into defending gun freedom are ridiculed that the loss of gun freedom can never happen here because of the second amendment, yet we have seen throughout the history of the US that lawmakers eager to protect their own power will readily pass laws in violation of the second amendment. To this day, even after the Heller case, Chicago is fighting an NRA lawsuit to protect their own unconstitutional handgun ban.
If it were not for YOU, the American gun owning public, who so cling to freedom and defend any affront to it, we would end up much like England, whose citizens are now reeling in the face of ridiculous violent crime rates and a government that does not represent their interests.
Forward this to your friends. I have not seen anything this powerful in a long time and it should "go viral" as it is called to anyone in America who questions those who fight for firearms freedom now, before we lose it.

There are enough of them to have a team dedicated to violating your Constituational rights.
Every new administarion brings in various special interest groups who helped them get into power.
You can bet your house, that there is a nice fat group of gun grabbers who only have one job right now.
The money swindlers and terrorist lovers have the next two offices down the hall.

It was more than obvious from watching the last bill signing by the current prez (where he had to ask his lawyers and advisors what he was doing) that he had no clue how the bill was even going to work.

Amen! You would think that after the Brady bill that people would wake up and realize when the wool is being pulled!

    Default George Soros

was the biggest private contributor to Obama's campaign. He was directly involved in the Australian gun confiscation, through his organization and hatchet woman Rebecca Peters. But, the administration itself, Obama/Biden/Pelosi/Holder are all rabid gun grabbers, so outside interest isn't really needed.

    Default My thoughts

I was just readin gin my American Riflemen about this and we all knew it was going to happen when our new person in charge took over. They way I see it is this. I have all the guns I need to survive. Would I like to continue buying them fro myself? Yes I would, but if they are going to push us into a socialist state of government then I will not buy anything new, but you can rest assured that I am not goin gto go out and register and license the guns I have now. Most of them were my grandfathers and so I know they are not registered anywhere and why should I have to pay for a license to use my guns.

The state of our Nation is in dire straits. I do not know who votes these idiots into power, but if you want to live in a socialistic sissy country move to France. I am sure after you live there for a bit and figure out it is not all that they claim you will be back and maybe with some different views.

This country was founded on values that were established many moons ago and by people that were actually for the people. It will be a cold day in HE@* before anyone takes my weapons from me. If that means I will be labeled as a criminal then so be it, but when that day comes it will be time for me to find a new place to call home.

Just my thoughts gents and I know you are right there with me on most or all of them. This is just a really sore spot with me as it is with you and I know my grandfather is turning over in his grave right now with this new president and the way the country is going. He never would have thought that our Right to Bear Arms would ever be infringed on. How disappointed he would be right now.

    I hear you, and agree.

BUT, there are too many gun owners, and even gun lovers, who were willing to trade their gun rights for some perceived free benefit from the Government.

Just before the election, I was shocked to discover the number of people on this very forum who indicated they would vote for Obama. They convinced themselves that there was little chance that they would lose their gun rights.

Well, they can "Hang onto their dreams", and I'll betcha they'll be keeping their "dirty little secret" to themselves before long.

Those, are the people who vote "these idiots into power". That's "a really sore spot" with me. Gun owners are not united.

Reportedly, the AARP promotes Anti-Gun legislation, and there are many gun owners who belong to that organization for the bennies. Not Me.

Our new President will probably have 8 years, and the Democrats will probably stay in power. They want take our guns away, and they'll get around to it.

    Default Well said Smitty!

Guys, we have to make our vote count. We have to be intelligent and research before we throw down and end up with something we didn't bargain for. These guys will say anything to get past the radar, we need to look at their records instead of listening to what the media says. Our president is the medias darling and they will edit the news to keep him popular. If you don't believe that the media edits then go to youtube and look at the different versions of the Waco mess. Look at the film "clipets" that were broadcast to Joe Public, which made the people think that David Koresh started all the bloodshed, then look at the unedited version which shows that the ATF, who were eventually found to be at fault, botched the raid and fell into a spiral of mistakes that led to disaster. We can thank Eric Holder, Deputy Attorney General at the time under Janet Reno, for this mess and now he has been chosen to be the Attorney General. He is also part of the Elian Gonzales crapola and look at his record as the attorney for Chiquita Bananas who was found guilty of supplying arms to the terrorist FALN organization. Holder was the one who got the blame shifted to the coorperation of Chiquita and managed to get them off with a petty "fine" of 250 million dollars while all executives walked free and clear. Well guess what, We The People just voted them in! Sure the war has taken its toll on our patience and resources, that's what fighting does. Is it worth it? I would fight for what I believe in and I might be hurt and it may take some time to recover but if it eliminates a threat and gains me some respect I'll accept that and I'll recover after the fight is over.

It seems that we are now at the part where we will have to resort to damage control. Let others know what is going on! There are masses in our ranks who don't have a clue and don't have the time to research and see what is really happening, tell them. Don't make them feel embarassed for there mistake but make them aware that if this administration gets it's way we are going to lose a helluva lot more than gun rights.

Guess it won't be the regular army taking our guns....that's good to know! I'm wondering who is going to confiscate our guns, force us into registration & licensing? Like I said in another thread, it won't be our local cops & not the national guard. Didn't think our own troops would round up guns and/or shoot their own countrymen. Hope there's more guys in the military like you! Maybe Obama's "citizen security force" will be coming door to door.

It's an outfit called the BATFE. And they've been practicing their tactics over the last dozen years with less than stellar results. If you won't give up your guns peacefully at the first request, they just burn down your house and kill everybody. And then sometimes they don't even ask first...

They can supplement their ranks with the good folks over at the IRS enforcement division. They are also armed to the teeth. Always wondered why the IRS agents needed full auto M-16s in their inventory...

    Default What comes next

The "hint" by Obama (peace be unto Him) of a national force equal in power to the US military gives a look at what may come.'

A force created by and for Him and the progressives and superceding standard police and Federal agents would be akin to Mugabe's "Green Bombers"... a private army outside of the law to enforce His will. Think of a Soviet style "Young Pioneers" but coming from disadvantaged youth from the ghetto.

Just a guess, but not out of bounds in a land of numerous crises and major financial concerns. So what if the huge bailouts fail and rampant inflation ruins everyone... it only makes the people more dependent on government. A real win-win for the far Left.

Gun control is people control. The Founding Fathers knew this.. ban guns and all one is left is clinging to religion... not at all bad in the eternal picture, but really bad in the here and now.

EVERY issue now facing the country is of vital concern. There is no margin of error.

Let me add that I also cling to the Bill of Rights for the here and now.... not a flexible set of guidelines, but solid and permanent Rights of Man.

not to sound like I need a tinfoil hat but there is also talk about a global tax to solve this so called "crisis", was this ever planned or what?
think I am goofy search for "global poverty act 2007" Obama wrote this and sponsored it into the Senate, it contains the loophole for a global poverty tax. The really weird thing about this is it was introduced into the House of reps by a guy named of all things "Adam Smith"
I'm wondering who is going to confiscate our guns, force us into registration & licensing?
well down here in the lesser 48 we have 15 million illegals that would gladly join an army to get citizenship as well as benefits. Check it out Sec of defense has already mentioned a "fast track" to citizenship for illegals that serve. If that isn't enough how about the poor victims of capitalism the young brainwashed urban poor. Ever wonder why our government actually turns a blind eye to the illegal invasion? read Karl Marx you will be enraged to see this revolution unfolding before your eyes.
one more comment from the tinfoil quarter and this is pure speculation on my part- Alaska is probably the only State in the Union that could really hold it's own in a SHTF scene with Obama's green shirts or UN troops. This is why there has been and continues to be a full court press in the lower 48 media to paint Alaskans and that hot governor with a very negative broad paint brush. Don't watch the media, observe the media they are like a poker players "tell"
God bless the Constitution of the U.S.A.

You will have to have a license to own a firearm in order to purchase ammunition for that caliber of firearm or reloading components. Just as you would if you want to use a bow or muzzle loader to hunt now.
No gun license no hunting license; No license no gun range/practice;No license on ammo; No license no transporting. The government already controls the gun valve it has just been turning the knob very slowly for the past 40 years.
The government won't go Gestapo to collect firearms !! They'll just arrest people individually who have them out of their homes and in the field or use them for self protection.

If that happens, being a BATFE agent would be a scary job....
