For the past week we have been seeing highs in the single digits, and lows in the negative single digits.
Snow Depth At Landing Parking Lot:
Friday we received 3" of new snow. There is pure ice covering the entire parking lot under the snow. We are not plowing the lot to hopefully get a good cover on top of the ice to make it better to drive/ride on. Please use extreme caution in lot and on road in the townsite.
1/27 Trail groomed and restaked from Landing to Scary Tree (mouth of Yentna). Trail moved to avoid large bumps/ice jumbles. Trail from Scary Tree to Luce's should've been groomed by Monday night. Trails are in good shape.
Left the landing Saturday morning. Went to Hewitt pulling 1500# in a flat sled. Overflow below Germantown. Made it through but ski sleds might have some problems. Skwentna to Hewitt okay, but our trail did not start until 1 mile on Shell Lake trail on the swamp. New snow helped out today. Seems like the overflow at Germantown is more on the way back.
Trail not bad from Landing through the Deshka X-over. Some overflow and thin ice on the Deshka by the Walking Hole, Grass Island (about 10.5 miles up Yentna) and above the Rock Garden. Should firm up with the temperature dropping this week.
Follow the staked trails and you should be in good shape. Many stakes were knocked down and covered up, so there may not be as many as there were before the beginning of the year. The crews have been out trying to get things in better shape.
