    Default Local Sawmill

Am planning on building some cabins this summer. Does anybody know of any local sawed lumber? Looking for 2X's and lap siding. Live on the Kenai Peninsula but would pick up within any reasonable distance. Rather support the locals than Home Depot, if possible.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ray

I think most small mills still cut size lumber,2x4 is realy 2x4 so mixing chain store with mill can be a problem.

Most guys with bandsaw mills will cut to nominal sizes (1 1/2" thick) so you can use Simpson bracket, hangers etc. I don't know any mills on the Kenai, but the ones around me don't save you any money.

Here's a link to the Wood-Mizer dealer in Palmer. He can give you the name and number of anyone that might want the business.
