I usually use 5/0 hooks for my hootchie rigs. Here is a link to the same topic a few weeks back. http://forums.outdoorsdirectory.com/...ad.php?t=45806

4 or 5/0 Gamakatsu's....I swear by 'em. Won't use any other hook at this point.

My hootchie rigs use the 5/0, 6/0 Gamakatsu solid tie mooching rigs.

I smoke kings/cohos on two 4/0 gamas tied solid on a 30lb leader. I'm thinking I'll go a little bigger on the hooks this year though as I've used up my box of 4/0 hooks.

The 30# leader is great as it's the heaviest I've found that is still "limp" enough to give the action I'm looking for. The larger 5/6/0 hooks I'm using make releasing small kings a bit easier, and the hooks don't tend to foul in my net as much...

    Case,

Have you heard about a 15% reduction in Kings salmon from last year for the sport fleet? I keep hearing about it but I haven't seen it in writing yet. The sport fleet didn't hardly catch any kings last year!

    Default fishing for keeps?

If your going to keep the silvers use 5/0 open eye mustads with a small barrel attached. If your going to release the silvers go to a smaller hook, the smaller hook will do less damage.

I usually use the 4/0-5/0 combo, but I've had luck with the 3/0-4/0, 5/0-6/0, and single hook mooching rigs with 4/0 and 5/0. Never treid the single hook rig with a 6/0, though it would no doubt work. The biggest king I've caught (my avatar) was on a single 3/0 gama, so you never know....
