    Default Unit 25A Caribou

Anyone ever hunted caribou on the East fork of the Chandlar or Windy river in 25A. Any experiences would be appreciated. Im about to book a hunt in the area.

Not the best place for caribou in my experience, but your air taxi service could probably tell you that too.

    Thumbs up Try Howard Pass

Come over the top a little to Howard Pass and you will be in unit 26. The early caribou is very good and you can take 2. Come in from Bettles.

Unit 26A bag limit is 5 per day for res and 5 total for non res.
Need to be pretty far north in 25A to find bou in normal sept hunting seasons. Heard there are some decent bou moose float rivers there.

The area that Lungshot asked about is sometimes used by the Porcupine herd. This year most of the Porcupine herd was in Canada by early to mid-August. Might be some central Arctic animals around in the northwestern part of 25A.

    Default Some

We hunted Boulder creek which is farther west of there, we didnt see large groups but the ones we did see were dandy. We were mainly looking for sheep but saw some nice bou and moose. We used Coyote Air.. My partner took a wild looking double shovel with a T/C Contender

    Default Thanks

Thanks for the input everyone. I may switch plans and go to 26a. Im lookin at some rivers up there that are the same air miles away as the ones in 25a. Im using Coyote air too. Good thing they service the entire Brooks range.
