Default Letís hear some general harvest success stories

So this will be my first year applying for drawing and tier II permits, the more I read the regs the more confused I get Allot of the success stories and pictures that are posted here are the results of the lucky winners of these drawings. I would love to see some pics and stories of general "harvest" areas as this will most likley be the areas that I as well as many others are able to target this year. Keep me motivated !!

drove down the road, spotted some goats went back to town picked up a tag, next morning climbed the mountain shot my goat, left the truck at 9am, was back in it by 230 with a goat and passed on a black bear....over the counter registration hunt.....you'll have to find that road on your own....took me 20 years...lol

All these hunts were general harvest hunts.

These are a few of the general harvest hunts that I've done. Lots of opportunity out there. Good luck and hope to read about your hunts soon.

Here's some sheep from last fall. I would offer that many of the success stories posted on this forum are from hard working hunters participating in "harvest ticket" hunts. A review of the August and September posts from the last several years should give you a good idea of what has been going on out there.

    Default couple more

Some deer from this october on Kodiak. There are opportunities out there to be successful in non-permit areas, but you have to do your research...IN THE FIELD. Getting tips on gear and general areas may be possible online, but success comes from spending time out...or getting really lucky.

i'll +2 for what sockeye said....there'll come a point when you've gotta bit the bullet and step outa the house and get after it.
You'll learn things in the field you'd never come close to even hearing about on here. There are some great general harvest hunts for brown, black, grizz, moose, caribou, sheep, and deer. And some awesome registration hunts for elk, mt goat, muskox. Its all out there, how much you wanna spend to do it and how hard do you wanna hit it...

Default Make that a +3 for Sockeye comments

Most people will give you good info, but most of us will not give up specific real estate if it is constantly producing qualities trophies. To many of us have seen good areas become quickly overcrowded when the words gets out.
Weíll get you close, but at the end of the day you have to get out in the field, if you want to consistently pull the trigger.
