    Default Trap identity?

Has anyone seen a trap like this? I'd love to know more about this particular trap, maybe how old it could be etc... It does say its a Victor 1 1/2 but I have never seen one this shape.

    Thanks!

It appears to be a stop loss style trap that is missing the stoploss wire. The only book I have shows a Prot Brand looking very similar to this one maybe the pan got changed maybe not? Like fish said post it on Trapperman there are several expert collectors that visit there that most likley will be able to give you full detail

I am curious what makes you think it is old?
I have seen very similar traps before, that were not very old but I am not familiar with this specificaly.

    Big dog,

My comment was a general comment, IF it was old? How old might it be? 2 years old? 30 years old? It came out of a bunch of traps that have been around for quite sometime. What one person calls old another may not.

I have no idea, just checking to see if anyone might have seen something like this, in all my years I have never seen a trap quite like this.

I did however get a reply from someone, now its looking like it might be a pieced together trap, they said the base and the bottom pan might be parts from a Prott, with a Victor pan on top, with jaws of a different trap.....they'll get back to me later with more info.

    Default lots

Dobbins gets lots of new registrations everyday, he goes through everyone of them on his own and reviews them. Usually takes a day or two. What is your username you asked for and i will send him a message tonight if you want.

+1 on the stoploss theory. we used traps that were the same design in NY for muskrats. it looks like this one is missing the bar though.

It's a Prott with a Victor pan (not sure about the jaws). I don't believe it's a stoploss. When triggered, the coilsprings push the bottom pan down making the trap jump.
