    Unhappy VHF Question/Problem

My radio is not transmitting well. I can recieve just fine, but was told my transmissions were weak and hard to make out. Does the transmitter part of the radio or antenna get weak before going bad? Beyond checking connections, I really wouldn't know how to trouble shoot this. Is there a meter that can be used to test transmit wattage? Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Doug

a swr meter will show the output wattage, try hooking the radio up to another antena, sometimes the antena's just crap out.

doug, you can take you radio down to surveyors exchange here in Anch, they can test the wattage output no problem and tell you if its your radio or just the antenna.
good luck. nice people down there!

    Question

If I recall your antenna had some wire exposed, would that matter?

Sorry. No exposed wire on my rig. I'll pursue getting it tested at Surveyor's Xchange.

    Thanks guys.
