    Default Rode Willow today....

We started from the small parking lot just south of the turnoff to the Deshka landing. Not sure what the temp was (we were guessing around -20*), but we only made it two miles before we turned back and decided not to go! The snow was good and the swamps had quite a bit of untracked powder (perfect for icing conditions with the LOW temp).

We got loaded back up then headed up Hatchers pass to see if we could luck out with a temp inversion or something. We went all the way to the last bridge before the coffee shop and checked things out. The temp had climbed probably 10*, but it was still not going to be a comfortable ride. My buddy then found out he was leaking coolant quite severely so we bagged it.

We got back to Wasilla and it was actually above 0 so we ended up ditch banging the rest of the day with his other sled. Better than sitting home for sure, but WAY too cold up north.

Time to find the Advil..... (I'm getting too old for 'ditch banging')

-43*! whoa! No wonder we didn't make it! Neither one of us had a decent thermometer so we were just guessing. It was definitely dangerous cold. We turned around before any frostbite showed up.

Not a good day to be riding at any speed!

    Thanks PA.

Rob, did you ride your sled to my house and bang on the front door? Couldn't get it in time and whoever it was rode off....

Guess it might have been a good thing I wasn't able to ride along, although ditch banging does sound like fun!

What, no pics? The riding pics thread is DEAD

Yep, I stopped in to see if you wanted to go for a quick ride. It was much warmer in Wasilla! I ended up with about 30 miles on for the afternoon.

Yeah, that was a nice one! Snowblower will get a workout taking it out.

No blower.....The plow on the wheeler is no match for concrete drifts. There was a guy movin snow in the neighborhood, had to pay him to bust it out...45 bucks!!! And he was only there ~20 minutes. Good thing thats the first time in 3 years thats happened (we were in Soldotna for 4 days and came back to it after the blow).

Let me know next time, I have a 9hp blower that will eat it up.
