Fairbanks area burbot? Any luck?
Anyone having any luck with burbot around Fairbanks right now? I'm probably going to put some set lines out tomorrow, but it's getting close to spawning season. Just wondering if anybody is having any success or not ...
hey Brian - I managed to get out once before the deep freeze settled in - very slow fishing and only managed one smallish burbot. I was using herring, which probably didn't help the fishing.
Be careful out there, I found an awful lot of fairly thin ice (3-4 inches) and lots of overflow. In one spot I had a good 18" of ice and six feet away was a skim of ice covered with snow just waiting to eat a snow machine or a person.
That's the only good thing about this cold - hopefully it will make the river safer.
