    Nice spear head Stranger,

Where you at? I just moved to the valley from Bristol Bay were I grew up.

Do you forge your own out of steel?

I roam the greater Kotzebue Sound, Kobuk to Kiwalik rivers.
The Spear is made from an old screwdriver sharpend to a point, th eguides are ski skegs from my snogo, recycled. I tacked welded two guide barbs from scraps, and drilled/grooved a pole to accept them and wired them on.
I like to spear Char at the ices edge while the boys hunt Oogruk out in the ocean ice. Large schools ar often around the ice, not far from land during break-up. I think thats what the Seals are eating, and I am official 'Boat watcher'.
I position the spear and jig with a lure made with a bundle of hairs.
Sheefish and Pike are fun too, the wooden spear is for Sheefish and is very large.
