    Default N 110

Anyone using Vihta Vuori N 110 for 357? I need to do some loading pretty soon, and I'm thinking about giving it a try.

I have in the past, it's a good powder. I mostly use Bullseye but the way powder is now take what you can get!

I have used N110 quite a lot in the past few years, I bought several pounds of it at a going out of business sale.

With the 158 grain Sierra JSP 14.5 grains gave 1187 fps from my 6" M28. The Vihta manual list 15.3 as a max load. This was a great load, very accurate with low ES. I also used it with the 180 and 200 grain hard cast WFNGC loads and that is where it really excels. With 14.0 grains and the CP180 WFNGC I got 1246 fps. (yes that's normal with cast bullets).

But, if you haven't already bought N110 powder, you probably should try to find N105. I find it more versatile than N110, for a wide range of loads from moderate to max and it is a very good with 150 to 200 grain bullets and gave lowere ES numbers than N110. N105 can be loaded to lighter levels than N110 and still give good performance. Neither powder is good for light bullet, plinking loads. Both powders are cleaner burning than H110/296 and more versatile.

With the 180 WFNGC and 10 grains 1272 fps. 11.0 grains gave 1346 fps and 12.0 grains 1412 fps. The 10.0 grain load was the best load, accuracy and SD and would be the one I'd suggest. These loads are shot in a heavy S&W revolver. I would not recommend this level in a small frame revolver. All loads are with CCI 550 SP magnum primers.

Given the current availability of powder, I haven't bought any yet, so I'll consider 105 as well.
