    Default rabbit pointers

Hey everybody. I'm a fort rich soldier in my first winter up here. My wife and I are foregoing a trip home over christmas to see a doctor in Soldotna over the break. That said, I want to take the opportunity to chase some critters. Can anyone give me some pointers on good hunting spots/techniques/terrain? I live between Palmer/Wasilla, work at Fort Rich and will be commuting to Soldotna over the holidays so I've got a wide range. I have a good 4x4 ATV, snow shoes, and all classes of firearms, but no snow machine. I've got the lay of the land in the valley from this summer, but not much else. Really appreciate any help. Merry Christmas!

Whew! Thought you were gonna ask about using pointers for rabbit hunting!

Well take a look at this post http://forums.outdoorsdirectory.com/...ad.php?t=42929
Then start from ft rich and either head north or south and keep an eye out.

You wont need that 4 wheeler.

I went south last weekend and found LOTS of good looking areas right off the highway.

Also within 2 hours north of Ft Rich there are LOTS of spots right off the highway.

Get an early start! not much daylight for exploring right now.

Head south to the peninsula and you won't need the wheeler

    Default Skilak loop rd.

Go to the southern entrance of Skilak loop road. Find a pulloff and do a little hiking. There are tons of rabbits down there right now. No need to bring the wheeler, just a gun and maybe snowshoes if you want to.
    Also lots of Lynx.
Post pics when you get back.
