    Default Nelchina

I asked this question elswhere but thought I would post it here. Does anyone have any information on the whereabouts of the Nelchina herd? I'd like to try and put some meat in the freezer while on R&R. Any info would be appreciated.

The late season was closed by emergency order before it even opened up in late October.

    Whoops!

I don't know if the federal hunt is closed. I doubt it.

    The state hunt is closed.

Nibenza, a call to Becky or Bob, the area bios in Glenallen, would likely get you some good info.

    Default good question

The regular subsistance hunt is still open but most of the caribou have already passed through. I went into Tangle Lakes 2 weeks ago and didn't even see a track. I'm sure there are a few scattered bou still out there, it just comes down to finding them. There haven't been any "on top of the world" for a while now. maybe try just S. of Meyers lake. They seem to cross down there pretty heavily, so if there are some laggers, they might be down there. I'll probably be down there over Christmas break too. Good Luck.
