    Default Moose Hide and Beaver

    Hey all,
Just moved back to Anchorage. I have a couple of nice moose hides (mine and my buddies) from a cow hunt this year. We would like to have the hides tanned...or have heard hairs slip with moose...at least have the leather/skin.
I also have a fully frozen beaver and am not that experienced at skinny beaver. It is a big nice beaver and I would like a nice hat....Any ideas where to take these and places that I can get the beaver hat made and boots etc out of the moose.
    Thanks
    :-)

Alpha Fur Dresser in Anchorage can tan your moose hides. My friend's Dad had his done there and he was very happy with it, he had no issues with hair loss. As far as the beaver goes you could have most taxidermist skin it and sent it to whatever tannery they use for a small fee.

Alpha Fur is quick, efficient and they do quality work. They may be able to help with the beaver, or at least give you a line on where to go.

Stogey is right, call Alpha and ask one of their fleshers if they will skin the beaver.

Denali Fur and Leather does excellent work on the Palmer-Wasilla hwy making the items you described. He's reasonable and does everything himself.
Trophy Taxidermy on Green Forest Dr in Palmer does all his own tanning on location.
Both of these outfits are reputable, reasonable, and been in business a long time.
