Default Ft Rich/Otter lake 14 Dec

Tried Otter lake today for about 3 hours with my son.
He had 2 big bites. The 1st bent his rod over and then snapped his line. I took his pole to re-rig it and handed him mine, as I was fixing it he had another hit bending the pole and again snapping the line....dang.
We both watched a huge trout that just floated around under us for a bit then disappeared.
Otherwise we had nothing....absolutely nothing else hit.
Don't think we'll go back again.
Better than sitting in the house though
We'll try again somewhere else next weekend.

So let me get this straight, you don't want to go back because you keep getting broken off by giant fish!!!!

I think you're right - line is expensive and with the economy in the can.......

    Default Same here

I was up there twice last year and didn't have a single bite. You did better than me...Looks like you had a really nice day.

    Default Yea, yea, yea....

we may try once more later on. We mostly had little pike (i think) gnawing at out shrimp and anything else that we put down the hole.
What's a good lure/bait for fishing pike? We still haven't caugt one yet.
Will maybe next time try worms and set the drag way down.
It was a beautiful day out there though and like I said, way better than sitting in the house all day.
Will be out somewhere else this weekend.

    Default Forgot to ask

Campingfool, (or anyone else) have you tried any of the other lakes on Ft Rich/EAFB? Thompson lake?
We/ve done ok at Clunie with the fish keeping us steady. Nothing to big but decent pan sized for eating.
    Thanx!
