    Default Competitive shooting in Alaska

So what sort of competitive shooting is there in Alaska?

I keep debating getting into competitive shooting, but I don't know what type of competitive shooting is active in SC.

I'm leaning towards 22 rimfire benchrest.

    Default NRA Bullseye pistol

I joined the local bullseye pistol league this year. Both .22 and centerfire. I have had a great time and made some new friends, and of course improved my shooting.

    Allen,

Thanks for the input. BR-50 sounds like something I'd be interested in, perhaps rimfire silouette. I'd like go to the match on the 21st to check it out, but it looks like I'll be out of town.

    Default Fun competative

Also, there is a SASS(Singla Action Shooting Society) that can be as competative and fun as you want to make it.

Where can I get more info? Is this similar to the Army "leg" matches?

www.akrifleclub.com lines out the 5W's for HP Rifle matches in Anchorage area
addttionally , bot the CMP and the NRA sites have rules books, national schedules, and more about HP rilfe

Yes, NRA HP Rifle is similar to the CMP EIC match (ie "leg" match").
Both Service Rifle and NRA match rifle are allowed in the NRA HP Rifle Match.
Both are 4 stage, three postion rifle matches.
AK rifle club alos spopnso some leg matches during the year as well.
