    Exclamation 20A Antlerless moose ?

What do you guys think about the 20A Antlerless moose hunt? I really am not seeing many moose out there from the air or ground, just woundering if mabye they are overdoing it a tad bit.

    Default just my thoughts

I hunted 20A last year, I was flown into the foothills of the alaskan range, I saw moose nonstop, a family that was hunting with me had a cow tag and we had 5 cows in camp at 0530 opening day, but he thought that was to early, glad he passed, as we saw a nice bull at 0800 that I shot at 11am. Probably just a matter of timing, being in the right place at the right time. Since the rut is in swing, maybe they are herded up?

    Exclamation easy access

I am more concerned with the zones with easy access, like zone 2, and the countinual harvesting of so many moose.

Riverboater, I would'nt be concerned. The reason for taking the antlerless moose is to hopefully avoid a population crash which normally happens in an over populated area. According to F&G 20A holds the highest population of moose in the state at roughly 2 per square mile. They want to take the numbers down a bit in order to help the herd continue on without the crash which could cause numbers to drop dramatically for years. I hunt the zone 2 area and see cows all the time from the rivers. Once the hunt begins they tend to move back into the woodwork as usual but you can still see quite a few every day. I hope this helps.

    Default antlerless

I spent quite a while in there flying and hunting this fall and I have been thinking the same thoughts. I saw less cows than any other unit I have hunted in but there is still a registration. I really hope someone in wildlife management is staying on top of this hunt.
