I wouldn't be surprised if it opens soon though, it has been snowing out here all day!

i have seen them riding the Willow side not the independence mine side. Independence mine side is the one withe the restrictions. But I was only on the Wasilla side early Wed., early thurs and very early friday. Spent the evenings on those days plus Saturday on the willow side.

ATTENTION SNOWMOBILER’S: The Hatcher Pass East Management Area and Summit
Lake State Recreation Site on the West side of Hatcher Pass are closed to snowmobiling due to insufficient snow cover. These areas will remain closed until there is a minimum of 30” of snow with firm base to protect the underlying vegetation.

This was from the link I posted above. I assumed the statement in orange was the willow side of hatcher. Guess I'm wrong....

Summit lake area, is the area around the lake. Not real sure of the exact boundaries, but I know you can ride all the way up to the gate that they use to close the road over the pass from Willow. Right before you start the uphill climb towards summit lake.

    Hunt,

There is a sign just west of summit lake down where the road splits and turns up to the headwaters of Willow cr. that is the park boundary. You are good to go West of there year round based on your own (relatively) good judgement (and money to buy new parts ).

Mud, I've only gone up there with the Conner boys and yeah, if they dont go over a nice soft-looking mound, I dont either. They dont call it smasher pass for nothing...

Yeah I remember the sign up there now...duh.....
