    Unhappy Rev 800

At the end of last season I broke off the rear lower A-arm bracket on my 800 Summit Rev. I didnt bend or do any other damage to the flying nun. After searching hi and low, I cannot find this bracket with out buying a whole new nun. I was wondering if anyone on here has an old damage flying nun laying around that I could snag this bracket from.

B-radford, try going to the Skidoo forums classifieds, I see all kinds of Skidoo parts and pieces for sale there. My guess is that someone there will have what you are looking for. http://www.dootalk.com/forums/index.php

    AkHunter45,
Thanks for the heads up, but i already tryed that site. Everyone seems to have a problem shipping stuff to Alaska, even a little Bracket. I was kind of hoping to deal with someone locally.

Can the broken one be welded? If not, it looks to me like as much room as there is for the bracket, a much beefier one could be fabricated and put on. It looks to me like the original one is inherintly weak, due to the compound bends and twists that occurred when manufactured. I think I would look at making my own, for both sides.

    Default a word of caution

When you make one part stronger, all that does is make another part the weakest link. When you run into something solid like a tree stump, something has to give. Do you want a bracket to break or do you want the frame to be bent because you made all other parts too strong?

I am not looking for anything custom or whatever, i just want an OEM replacement part. You cannot just buy the bracket from AMDS or Team CC, they want to sell me the who nun. I am just trying to fix it so i can go ride.

B-radford, what is the name of the part that you need? I have no idea what a "flying nun" is.

Is it bent where having the skis straight forward one is furthur forward than the other? If that is all that has happened with the bent part, I know lots 'o guys that ride with it like that. They claim it doesn't affect riding at all and the labor and or cost to repair is not worth it.....

The flying nun is the part on a REV where the Rubber boots for the tie rods are and where the lower A-Arms bolt to the frame, here is a picture of the whole flying nun, i circled where the bracket used to be and you can see where the other one is still in tackt.

Hunt_Ak, i was going to just leave it because it did ride fine, but i wanted to fix it before it broke the rest of the way back in the mountains, i have that kind of bad luck.

All i am looking for is someones old Flying nun, there have been alot of people who have had to replace this part on their REVs.

What about just fabricating a new one? It doesn't look like a complicated piece.

If you're going to have to spend an ungodly amount of money on it, I'd go the fab route. If all you're looking for is not having the bracket break when out riding, take it and the other good one to a welding shop and have them make two new ones so you have a matched set. That way, you'd have a spare also....Just a thought.

Check snowest, in the Alaska section, there's a few guys on there that changed out their nuns.

I was thinking about having them fabricated, the only reason the piece failed in the first place was due to a bolt on the railroad tracks, it had nothing to do with the part being weak.

Thanks for the heads up AKmud, i had looked at a couple of those and it sucks that they dont offer the bracket seperate from the crossmember. They want like $250 for the crossmember at AMDS, I also have to buy new Skis for my sled too because those got wrecked in the same accident.

I've got an '04 800 rev that the stock nun is slightly tweaked - I've just put off replacing it until it's completely unusable.

Unfortunately, I don't foresee myself voluntarily replacing my nun, otherwise you could grab the old brackets off mine.

So, I just there's not much point in this post other than that I feel your pain. I just really find it hard to believe you broke that off, but the nun is just fine.

    Good luck!

Thanks anyways AlaskanSD, I actually posted a Craigslist ad and someone had one that had cracked by where the shock mounts. I picked it up from him for $20. So he saved the day.
