Default Best Ammo for .17 HMR

I just bought a new .17 HMR. Who makes the best ammo or does it really matter?

I haven't noticed much, if any difference. Federal, Hornady and CCI all seem to shoot pretty good in mine.

I thought I read an article last year on someone testing a 25gr bullet for the 17hmr, and that it was being released, but I haven't been able to find any. Anyone else know about it if it even exist?

This is my experience as well. I usually just buy what's on sale and they all seem to do pretty well.

    Default 17 hmr

If you plan on salvaging what you take with it give the 20 XTP's a try. They are alot less destructive than the polly tips.

I've shot both Federal and CCI out of mine with the TNT and V-max bullets. Both have the same velocity numbers and I believe they are loaded with the same powder (Lil' Gun). I've noticed that the V-max bullets print slightly tighter.

I just got a supply of Hornady ammo recently, but I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.
    Now what ?

I just bought some Winchester 17HMR tonight to try in mine. Plus it was just about all they had so I'll give them a try.

The v-maxd bullets seem to be the most accurate I have shot.

I bought some CCI and Hornady to try out. Can't wait to go shoot it.
