Default first pics with my 40d

Well my 40d got here this week. I ended up ordering from b&h and wow are they great to deal with! It's going to take me forever on the other hand to figure out how to use this camera to it's full potential. Here's a pic of my pup i took this week. Let me know what you guys think and remember i'm still trying to figure this thing out.

Congrats on the new camera. I am sure you will love it. Get out and take lots of pictures and have fun. Also, be aware that there are books/dvds made specifically to that camera. I got some from B&H that really helped me learn how to use my 40D. Below are a few links.

    Beautiful dog, and colors too.

Set your 40D to Av (aperture priority) first, and then AI Servo, ISO around 200, aperture around f/4 or higher, and burst mode. Set the focus spot on the dog's nose or eyes, and shoot away. This way the face will be in focus and most of the body, fading a little by the tail.

Shoot RAW, and edit the photos with PhotoShop, or PhotoShop Elements 6 or 7. Also. Increase the sharpness by one click from the default (move it to the right).

Finally, get a hold of the following book: Canon EOS 40D Digital SLR Photography Guide by David D. Bush.
