    Default Fishing Reel Repair/Maintenance

Does anyone know of a reliable and reasonable person whom works on Penn and Abu Garcia Reels. I have 7 reels total, 2 of them need TLC on the level winder. Not in a rush to get them, back but don't want to get ripped off.

    Default Reels

I just sent my old Penn Reel back to Penn Reel in Phila., Pa. They replaced the drag washers, two springs and did the cleaning and greasing.
Very good service, on time and price was as quoted after they inspected it.
Log on to their web site and their policy is spelled out.

    +1

Only tackle specialist in town that I know of, and seem like good people.

    Default Those guys rock!

The folks down on arctic are great. A while ago, I broke the tip off one of my favorite rods. Brought it into them and they glued a new one on==Free of charge.

Very friendly and do good work. Everyone I know brings their reels into them for servicing at reasonal prices.

Location wasn't mentioned in the OP, but if you're shipping them out (or happen to be in Juneau for a few days) give Bill Brown at Taku Reel Repair a call... He does most of the charter and outfitter gear here, and I was pleasantly surprised at how "fair" (aka: low!) his rates were when I brought him several dozen reels in various states of functionality. From good basic lube & clean service all the way to making a piece of garbage work well for one more season (really, it was destined for the trash!)

Taku Reel Repair is right at the head of the Mendenhall Valley (Skywood Blvd.) - I'm now guessing that's not the particular "valley" you're after however!
