I wen't out Monday evening for about an hour with my oldest boy. tromped around my honey hole from last year but didn't see anything. I will probably stick to grouse untill we get the first snow fall. Where I am at there is tall grass and they hold tight in it unless you accidently kick them! The first snow lays the grass down and it is GAME ON!

Had a buddy last fri that went up to Healy area and had a blast with bunnies and his bow. He said there were plenty to go around.

I shot four Friday and four again today. The population in the area I hunt doesn't seem to be as high this year. They also seem to be a little more skittish.
Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

Have they turned color yet? The ptarmagin I saw up high on Friday are already white, but I haven't seen any hares yet. I'd love to get my nephew on his first hare, so visibility would help our cause.

Brian, I saw about three or four this weekend. Feet and legs were white. Made them a little easier to spot, but not until they moved. I would really like to get some in the freezer, didn't even shoot one last year.

On Friday, about half of those I saw were white. Yesterday, almost all were white. I'm not sure how long it takes for the transition but two days made a very noticeable difference.

    Default Mon report

Went out and jumped 7 and got 1. Way to thick still. We got only a glance of the rabbits before they disappeared. They are starting to turn white now.

I may head out Friday and see what I can find. This snow should knock down the grass a little by then.

Now to figure out where to go for the best chances.

We got 11 Sunday on the way out from the cabin. Still alot of brown on them...

Hiked almost two miles to a favorite near by lake...

We were just hours behind this guy.

Won't be back until trapping season starts..
