    Default Redfield scope question.

A rifle I recently aquired has a Redfield Illuminator scope, 3-9x.
On the power adjustment ring there is an internal hex bolt (allen screw) on the raised portion you press to change power. Can anyone tell me what the screw is for?
    Vance in AK.

If I recall its so you can lock the power adjustment in place, making it a fixed power scope.
