9-27-2008 National Public Lands Day at the Hay Flats
Ummmm... this saturday could be lots of fun for everyone. However, do enjoy your land as you see fit, just don't scare the bird watchers too badly.
This Saturday, September 27, 2008 is NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY.
Palmer Hay Flats State Game Refuge is a great place to celebrate this
special day of appreciation for lands belonging to all Alaskans.
Autumn colors are in full display and termination dust on
the high slopes of the mountains are a breathtaking backdrop
to the vast expanse of golden estuarial grasses and tundra plain.
Take an easy walk around Reflections Lake for
stunning reflections of Pioneer Peak and Twin Peaks.
Enjoy a quiet woodland walk along Scout Ridge and
stand in awe at the beautiful view of estuary ponds, rivers, sloughs and mountains
from high on Scout Ridge Overlook at
Cottonwood Creek access.
Visit the website www.PalmerHayFlats.org for photos, trail maps and other
information about this beautiful and easily accessible Refuge.
This place of yours is all dressed up and waiting...........so, go!
