Thread: Should I expand to Alaska?

Default Should I expand to Alaska?

    Hello Folks-

Just asking for some free advice as I am researching the CC Laws and regs in Alaska. I run a CC company that specializes in CC Jackets for Men and women. (with do the whole bags, range bags, laptop bags later on). I havent really explored shipping to alaska yet, because I havent researched it. We work directly with the manufacturer so we save alot by not going to the middle man and thought we could leverage this by offering up in Alaska as well.

Whaddya think...is it something to explore shipping from the lower 48 up there? Would there be interest in Conceal Carry Jackets up there? Whats the vibe?

My wife is the designer and said we should do some research on Alaska (I was thinking canada, but we are not sure how customs would be for the canadians). Normally when we sell our overstock on auction sites, we have never listed alaska because we werent sure if it should be explored or not. But now I am thinking why not...but wanted to get the locals opinions on weather or not there would be a market for it.

Any help (good bad or ugly would be appreciated).

    Thanks....

You can send me a free sample & I'll try it & tell all my friends :-)
If your jacket will fold small enough to fit into the new "large" flat rate Priority Mail box shipping is about $12.00 to AK.
    Vance in AK.

    Thanks....
There's always interest in good products up here. Advertising rates are not that much different than anywhere else. They sell advertising space right here on the site.

As for shipping, call your local Fedex or UPS. They have been shipping both ways for years. I'm not sure what's more to explore than that. We've been living with those folks a long time, and it works fine for business and private citizens.

My 2 cents worth...I can mail a letter to the lower 48 for 42 cents (the last time I checked), and you can do the same. Vance has the right ideal, if it will fit in a flat rate box, that is absolutely perfect for Alaska. FedEx and UPS is great if you live in the big city...Anchorage or Fairbanks. Not if you live in the Southeast or the bush. I would use the USPS (Postal Service) and flatly refuse to use UPS.

And I am always looking for a new way to carry concealed. So proivde us a link so we can check it out.

Default Just wanted to thank you....

Thanks folks, for your suggestion....I actually dabbled a bit and have sent some jackets up to Kodiak...and since we are doing 4.95 shipping (even up to alaska).....customers have been happy with that. I guess they thought that we charge extra for shipping up there. But we dont.

Thanks for the support and encouragement. If anyone is looking for anything, we are still doing 4.95 shipping AND we are having a Black Friday week Blowout...so its even a pretty good time to save a well.

Let me know if you guys need anything up there or if you are looking for a special size...we will try and help out anyway we can.
