Hunting closed 11:59 p.m. Monday for Fortymile herd caribou.

"Caribou have been available, and harvest has been relatively steady since the season opened," area game biologist Jeff Gross said in a press release. "I expect hunters to reach the Zone 2 quota of 160 caribou, and the overall fall quota of 640 caribou, by Monday night."
The state hunt in Zone 2 is being closed by emergency order. The federal subsistence hunt in Zones 1, 2 and 3 is closing at the same time.
Hunting in Zones 1 and 3 closed in August.
