Can anyone refer me to a good taxidermist who is reasonably priced. Got a nice 6ft blackie with a white "V" on his chest that I want a rug out of.

Are you sure you want to rug a trophy like that? A rug really does not show the "V"off. How about a 3/4 mount hanging on the wall. The entire chest will be visible then. Just a thought.

I'm with spoiled one. A rug will split the white mark. How about a mount like this.

This one was done by Rich AT Browtine Taxidermy in North Pole.

Default Would agree with Spoiled One, unless.....

I have a 7ft blackie on my wall rugged with a nice big blaze like that too. Rugging it will split in two, but if you want only one to rug, that would look nice on the wal. Im doing my sons 1st blackie in a life size, standing with his jaws open. I would recommend 1/2 or 3/4 mount. However, If its got nice long hair, no rubs, I would consider a rug or lifesize, I would hate to cut that baby in half.

Congrats on a nice bear. Care to share the story?

    Default Lifesize!!!!!!

Have a lifesize mount done. I would not rug a bear with a nice white patch, if I was ever lucky enough to see or even harvest one.

    Congrats on a beautiful bear.

We will all help you spend your money! At least go with a mount that will show that nice white V.

WD Taxidermy, 376-4053. Wayne does excellent rugs and he is VERY competitively priced.

I took two black bears to heather wolcoff at free spirit taxidermy. She says that rugs will be done by december. She has a low overhead taking in only a a low amount animals a year. She likes it that way because she can focus on quality because she uses word of mouth to be known. Her number is 350-1214, she is located in the big lake area. Im paying only 150 a foot for my bears. One was a super prime 5 foot female with 6 inch hair throughout and the other was a 6.5 foot boar. Give he a call and let her know Pat sent you.
