Thread: One last hunting trip

    Default One last hunting trip

A good friend of mine is moving back to CA for family reasons in early November. He and I want to do one last hunt together. Neither of us has a lot of money but we do have time. I thought a fly-out hunt for deer to Montague Island might work. I live in Soldotna and he lives in Faribanks. Does anyone have any ideas? A reasonable shot of success at anything would be great. Let's assume we each have about $1000 to spend. Also, does anyone know of an air-taxi service out of Whittier?

Try going out of Kodiak, lots more deer there and you should be able to do it for under $1000 each.

for Kodiak. Check in with either Seahawk or Andrews Air and tell them what you want. South part of Kodiak gets my vote. It might be tough getting undr $1000 because of flights but it will be close. A couple of buddies just got back from the south part of Kodiak. The flight down there and back cost $900 each.

Montague should be doable for less than Kodiak. Not as many deer, but still a good chance at getting some--more difficult if you need a big buck. Last time I went was several years ago with Bear Lake Air out of Seward.

Might want to look into a PWS boat hunt. I have been in contact with these people and am trying to arrange going out with another party to fill the boat and keep the cost per person down.
