    Default Fall Spawning Male Rainbow?

I caught this bow on the kenai last week, and was surprised to see what looked like sperm coming out of the fish as I held it up for pictures. You can see him leaking a lil in this picture. I know that rainbow's spawn in the spring, so I found this surprising. Maybe this fish just gets ready to go twice a year??

Does anyone have any insight into this to help relieve that confusion that I still have?

Do you think it could have been something other than sperm? They do eat food, so that means it comes out at some point!

    AHEM.....

    I beg to differ.

    Milt sacs ARE food!

thanks for the insight. I thought that the "milt" was the sperm and was part of the spawning process. sounds like that is incorrect.

Talking my wife and a happy fish

Ok this is my wife june last year in september on the kenai. The video is funny but there is one or two cuss words in it so keep the kiddies away. This is her trout fishing but catching a big old buck on her 6wt on the drift. We stop and land it and as you will here I guess he was very happy to see her

Femals and males when cought when they are ready to spawn will release their eggs or milt when cought. Its a last ditch effort to reproduce when they think they are going to die.

    Default spawning

Id say 99% of rainbows spawn in the spring but not all rainbows spawn in the spring. Some will spawn in the fall. Not very many but some. Ive caught spawning rainbows out of the same small creek in the same year spring and fall.

I think it was this because this fish is not very dark. I could be entirely wrong, but I am pretty sure that they will be "mature" long before the day comes for them to spawn.....On the other hand that picture of the silver salmon is just plain sick and wrong
