Thread: Please help me decide on a holster

Default Please help me decide on a holster

I want a chest carry holster for a Ruger Redhawk .45 Colt, 4Ē barrel. I am looking at the Simply Rugged sourdough pancake attached to the chesty puller system for $115 http://www.simplyrugged.com/store/index.html\, and the Guides Choice system by Diamond D, I canít find a price for this one. http://www.davidjohnstonleather.com/Pages/GuidesChoice.html

Based on the pictures only, the Diamond D looks like a slightly better system but maybe the photos are deceiving? The reason I say this is because it looks like the holster and harness system on the guides choice are designed as a unit where the Simply Rugged system modifies a belt holster. Maybe this second system is better for some reason? I would appreciate comments from those of you that have tried one or both of these holster systems. One last thing, what about the Simply Rugged Grizzly Tuff chest carry system that is made out of fabric rather than leather? Pros/cons? http://www.gunblast.com/GrizzlyTuff.htm

    Thank you

I have holsters from Diamond D and can find no fault with them. Never had better holsters, ever.

I don't know about the other holsters like the Simply Rugged, but a lot of guys here really seem happy with them. I don't think you could go far wrong with either.

IIRC, my Guides Choice from Diamond D cost me $140.00, and that wasn't too long ago.

I used it the other day while fishing, and it was very comfortable.

David Johnston's work is the best I've seen. I've got a lot of his stuff and have nary a complaint with any of it.

Thanks for the advice guys. I went ahead and ordered one of the Grizzlytuff holsters because I am in a wet climate and I think this material will be more durable for my intended purposes.
