    Default 2008 totals?

Okay, this might be fun. How about a thread on how many fish we took under personal use in 2008? I'm hearing some gloom and doom this year, but that doesn't match my experiences at all. Yes, I did see less folks on the river, but I think that had more to do with the cooler / cloudy / rainy summer we had than a lack of fish. Just my take...

I'll start; this year was pretty good for the Strahan houshold.

    Kenai River

    Sockeye: 42

    Pink: 2

    Days fished: 3

    How about you?

17 reds in Chitina, 1 day fished.

Probably sufficient for my household, but not the full 30 we're used to. It is the worst we've done in about 12 or 13 years. It'll make us appreciate it a little more next year.

    Kenai River

    Sockeyes - 25

Fished 2 days for a total of about 27 hours in the water. Fished showed up at the end of the day both days and I'd say 21-22 were all caught within the last 2 hours of each day.

Got 5 reds and 1 king at Chitina in mid June. Caught two other kings as well. First time ever dipnetting. Not only that I did it the hard way by hiking all the way into the canyon with my gear. Roughly two hours of dipping to get them. Next time I will fillet the fish all the way out instead of gutting to save weight and pack more into my ruck.

we got 39 total. More than enough for the family. We were in a boat for about 3-4 hours I think. That was a month ago. I have a bad memory

Limited out with 45 and a few of those rough flounders at the mouth of the Kenai (north side). Dipped on Thurs evening and two partial tides (**** curfew) on Fri and was outta there. Couldn't believe the crowds descending for the weekend. Good till next year.

My experience this year is close to Brian's

    Kasilof River
    2 people
    35 reds
    3 1/2 hours total fishing

By far the fastest year I've limited out, I also thought that the fish were a little bigger then last years run......

    Default Kenai

Dipnetted by myself next to last day of July. Lots of fun and awkward.

    Reds- 22
    Pinks- 7
    Silvers- 2
Not bad for one guy running the skiff, netting, and taking care of fish. Better with a fishing buddy.

    Default rough year

struck out on the copper due to really high water

Hit the kenai last week of July two and 1/2 days fishing yielded 24 reds, 2 pinks and 1 king really bad year we ussually put up at least 60 fish and eat every scrap. This year went to valdez to put a few silvers in th freezer another dozen silvers helped a little, but while there were occasional bright spots, statewide was a really rough year. I hope this isn't the first of several years of low returns. With the low counts on younger class fish it has me worried about the next two years.

    chitina

    by boat

    end of june

    2 days = 5 reds 1 king

    $200 contributed to 'gas fund'

frustrating...but can't get em if you don't try

wanted to go again and the numbers just never justified the expense (not enough of a sure thing)
