    Question Whisperlight Instructions?

Does anyone have a link on how to operate one of these??? Thanks.

    Roger,
The rectangular block on the fuel line only allows it to be installed one way. Then you flip the bail over the top of the bottle pump/valve to hold everything together.

    *Never over fill your bottle
***Never EVER start a Whisperlite inside a tent

    20-25 pumps
Set the stove level and postion the bottle
Open the valve wheel slooowly until you hear fuel move
Watch for the cup on the bottom of the stove body to accumulate about 1/8" of fuel--turn off valve

    Light fuel in cup
As it burns, the tube that loops up through the burner will heat up and gasify the fuel.
When you will hear the tell-tale "sspiss sspiss sspiss" of the fuel turning to gas, slowly open the fuel valve until you get the roaring blue flame.

If you open the valve too fast you'll get more liquid fuel in the cup and the stove will flame up. (Why you never light it inside)

After 3 or 4 times you'll get the feel for opening the valve.

(My Whisperlite is 17 years old--keep it clean and it will never fail)

I can attest to this. Not unless you want black soot inside your tent .

Below is a link to some great info on using MSR Whisperlite stoves. Most detailed info I have found yet. This is what should come with the stoves from MSR. Read the preheating instructions very well. This is what gives most people trouble. While simple, it needs to be done in a certain way. Click on the below link and scroll down a few pages. Fantastic info.
