    Talking more info on brownie

9ft 2 in----26.75 inch skull---really dark brown--started out about 400 yards down the beach---as we were stalking him,he kept feeding in our direction---i was ready to shoot at about 125 yards but my guide(chris erickson, tok river outfitters) was much calmer than i was---just let mr. bear keep coming our way-- at about 30 yards chris said "ok,close enough,shoot"---funny how my 416 remington had no recoil !!!--a dream come true !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on a great bear and thanks for the details! Did he drop after one shot, or did he need a couple more to finish him?

    Default 3 shots

the shot was head on--3 shots total, although after skinning,it was easy to see the first shot killed him---chris,my guide, put 2 more in him as he kept moving---better safe than sorry!!!!

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times...use enough gun. Just kiddin ez. Great bear and I know you're extremely proud. How many day's did it take to come down off your adrenalin high? I'm glad to see that the pump didn't blow when the bear was at 30 yds...it probably was maxing out. Thanks, ciao.
If you like getting kicked by a mule...then you'll "love" shooting my .458.

    Talking Nice Brownie

    ezmarsh,

GREAT bear!!! Thanks for sharing your hunt info. Bet you had a fun hunt with Chris E. I hunted with him on Chichagof Island in the spring of 1997. Had a great time. We still keep in contact just to bug each other occassionally. Shot my bear on the 11th evening of a 10 day hunt at about 40 yards with a .338 Win Mag. You were in some beautiful country and I imagine you based on the Icy Lady. If Chris didn't tell you the story about the Icy Lady taking 'hostile fire' from a Japanese client a few years back, be sure to ask him about it. It's a good story.
