Cool Ptarmy numbers in anchorage area

Since the season opened on sunday, i was wondering if anyone has been successful. My success has thus far been limited to a nice hike, a bunny here or there, but thats about it. I kind of have an idea of what kind of terrain to look for(or so i thought) but haven't come accross any ptarmigan yet. I haven been looking in a few spots in the anchorage area, but was wondering if I might have a better chance heading north a bit to say hatchers, euruka, or petersville. If anyone could let me know if they have had any luck, or maybe could give a few pointers on what to look for I would greatly appreciate it. Oh, but if anyone would be kind enough to share their spot via pm, I am leaving for school in a week and a half and I'm good at keepin a secret!

The season in Anchorage hasn't opened yet for small game. It is unit 14c and opens day after labor day for ptarmigan and grouse.

    Just edited:

I stand corrected. Ptarmigan opened on 10 Aug, Spruce Grouse opens day after labor day, as do hares.

    sorry for the wrong info
