Default Ruffed v. sharptail next to the potatoes...

Ok, I know that I don't care for the spruce hens much (but my son does) and I really like ruffies. I haven't shot a sharptail yet, so I ask you ...how do sharptails compare to ruffies and spruce hens for color/flavor/etc?

    Thx,

    Brian

    Default not sure

bout up here - but back in Montana I can say that I don't like the flavor of sharptail - not much better than a prarie chicken (sage grouse)...I quit shooting them because they don't eat good - and i am talking about birds that are feeding in wheat and barley.

These Delta sharptails often feed in grainfields but still don't compare to Ruffedgrouse IMO.....better than spruce grouse though.

    Default Make pretty mounts

IMHO. they fare as well as a Spruce Grouse (not very good). The meat on the Sharpies is red or at least all the ones Ive shot here in Alaska have been red meat. And still nothing compares to them Ruffies.Makes me hungry now mmm hmmm!
