Thread: Road System Black Bears?

  1. #1

    Question Road System Black Bears?

I have four days to kill at the end of August and was thinking about looking for some black bears. I am willing to hike, but do not have an ATV. Could anyone recommend a unit or general area to look at. I'm guessing berry patches or maybe a salmon stream? I also have a predator call. Just looking for a recommended technique and unit with good numbers of black bears. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Just drive. I used to (when my knees were better) just drive and when I would see a valley that looked interesting, park and head out.

If your gonna be here in south central, the kenai has alot of potential.

Units 15 and 7, kenai penn. would be where I would head.

    Thumbs up Thanks

Appreciate the help. I was hoping to drive the other direction, but I'll try to go where I can find some bears.

    Denali State Park--Kesugi Ridge

Trails at Byer's Lake, Little Coal Creek, Troublesome Creek, and Ermine Hill get you back into bear country.
