"Beavertail" and outriggers?
A question for the Grumman freighter advocates out there: please see the 19'er for sale in our classifieds.
The beavertail device on the rear interests me. I wonder if: 1). you have seen or used such a device on a 19'er, 2). did it work, and 3). were there negatives, particularly when turning, at some speed, necessitating the elaborate outriggers? I imagine that the "beavertail" would raise the full throttle speed of the canoe, due to reduced hydrodynamic resistance, but my 19'er tops at 16.5 mph (GPS) which is enough; much higher speed would be spooky.
Looks like an interesting rig, although a bit complicated. Take a look and see what you think.
