    Default Need help around Eielson

I just moved here from idaho and I was just wondering how many duck hunters there are around the base and the surrounding area. What is the duck hunting like and how long is it good for. Any info would be great. thanks for the help.

There are a good amount of duck hunters around and place to duck hunt! Come to Sportsmans days on August 2nd. I will be there with an Avery/Greehead gear Booth.

    Default Welcome

    Mac,

Duck hunting is fun but lasts a very short time up here near Eielson. You will not see any plummage on the birds since they'll be in summer (eclipse) plummage. Everything looks like a hen. Effective hunting is only a few weeks long before freeze-up (01 Sep - 20 Sep). Small camoed boats are fun to drift piledriver slough right across the main road from base. Jump shooting is a blast. IM me if you get a chance and I'll try and point you in the right direction for some simple hunts.
