    Default Kasilof

I will be heading up next summer and i hear a lot about Kenai sockeye run and the Kenai fishing but not much about the Kasilof. How has fishing been on the Kasilof for Sockeye this year? How good is the Kasilof for fishing from the bank for reds? Thanks for your reply guys!

Short answer is it's hard. Most of the river is private property, the fish move FAST in the Kasilof and go right to Tustemena lake. You can fish at Crooked Creek state park, and as far as I know that's about it. (tustemema outflow too, but it's hard to get to.) A driftboat is the key. The river is pretty short compared to the Kenai as well.

It DOES get a lot of fish, and it less crowded. I often camp at Crooked creek as all the kenai campground are full. I fish it then but usually go back to the kenai.
