    Default What lb. test line?

    Hello guys, what lb. test line is best for silvers and chum salmon? I will be using mostly spinning tackle. Thanks

    20-25 lb test should be good

    I use 14-17 on medium action 8' spinning gear.

    I use 14# mono with a medium spinning rod. I'm going to try going lighter this year 10-12#.

    Please note if you are fishing in a crowded area or there is heavy brush in the area you may want to go with 20-25# to either keep good relations with the the crowd or horse the fish out of the brush.

    Mostly I use 20-25 because I just use my King rods.

    I do like to catch one or two silvers on my trout rod with 6 lb line but will only do it when my fighting the fish will not be a PITA to other fisherman.

    If there are alot of people go with 20 or bigger so you can control the fish, I love going with like 15# and having one helluva of a fight, but there are some people who don't enjoy it, but then I just don't fish with tons of people

    I don't fish with tons of people either, that's why I use 6# and 8#.
    I figure if I can land 30# kings and 10-15# steelhead on my gear a silver is no problem.
    When I'm using the flyrod I use 12# tippet.
