Default Looking for lodging input in Anchor Town

I am making my yearly pilgrimage to AK in September and I usually just blow through Anchorage stopping only for Wendy's and Gas!!
This year I want to stop for the night and get together with some new found friends from this forum for an adult beverage or two.
My question is: Is there any reasonable hotel/motel in the area?
I don't want to spend over a $100 just for a place to sleep, but I also don't want to stay at some crack infested hooker hold up either.
High room rates eat away at available beverage funds!!!
The date I'm looking at will be September 1st
Thanks in advance for your help in this matter!

P.S. it would be nice if it were within walking (wobbling, staggering) distance of whatever adult beverage disbursement emporium y'all want to meet at!!!

    Default Good luck with that...

..hotels are pretty pricey right now - maybe they will come down by september - look on-line for your better deals.

Unfortunately lodging rates in AK seem to run high in the off season and higher in the on season. And if you're looking at something stumbling distance from bars/eateries, you aren't going to find something cheap, though you have to balance cheaper hotel and cab fare.

We stayed at the Creekwood Inn many moons back on our first trip up, before we moved here. Not bad acomodations and reasonable rates.

    Default Sockeye INN

It is a new upscale *hostel*/Hotel. My company built it. Nice rooms community bathrooms, washer dryer and kitchens are common areas too. Rooms have T.V's and beds. I think they are getting around 65 a night or 250 a week. They are on the corner of fireweed and C street and it just opened on the 6th of june give them a shout

whatever you do, DON'T stay at the Mush Inn!!!!!
I went to a hockey game at the Sullivan Arena and made the mistake of staying there instead of driving back to the valley, after drinking some hockey sodas...read what others think....
